CAUTION: Always Lock Out / Tag Out the power supply prior to any and all maintenance.
- Check and maintain the fluid levels (oil, coolant, etc.) of the diesel engine. Check, clean or replace the engine air filter as necessary. Monitor and maintain the proper concentration of the Diesel Coolant Additive (DCA) in your cooling system. This test is normally achieved by using a test kit obtained from the parts department at your local diesel engine dealer.
- Check the oil level site glasses of the vibrating feeders and screens if and where they apply. Drain and refill with new oil every 250 to 300 hours.
- Inspect the inside of the impactor on a daily basis. Look for worn or damaged blowbars, replace or turn if necessary. Look for worn, damaged, or missing curtain and side liners. Replace as necessary. Assure that all blowbar wedges and spindle pins are in place.
- Inspect V-belt drives for damaged belts or loose belt tension. Cracked, glazed, torn, or separated belts should be replaced. Proper belt tension should be maintained for optimum performance of your plant. Loose or worn belts and sheaves can affect the generator speed and result in low voltage supply to all electric powered components. Low voltage can cause electric motor and electric panel component failures. Consult the manual for belt tension calculation procedures.
- Check the plant for level. Side to side level is more critical to proper operation than front to back level. Adjust the hydraulic legs as necessary to bring the plant into a level position from side to side at both ends of the plant. Always insert the pins in the leg tubes so that the pins support the plant and not just the hydraulic cylinder itself supporting the plant. Allowing the plant to “lean” to one side causes oil levels in feeders and screens to not be correct. This can cause oil to run into the center tubes of the feeders and can cause seal leaks to develop in both the feeder and screen. Allowing a plant to operate out of level also causes uneven wear patterns on the blowbars and curtains inside your impactor.
- When turning or replacing blowbars, cleanliness is next to godliness. Always take a little extra care to clean all the mating surfaces of the rotor and blowbar, this will assure that you maintain a metal to metal contact between the bars and the rotor.
- The rubber curtain and the chain curtain located in the feed opening of the crusher are there for your protection. These items are subject to wear, and should be maintained on a regular basis. Replace missing chain strands and missing rubber sections as necessary.
- Tail pulley guards need to be kept free of build up of material. Do Not remove guards and operate the plant. Replace any and all guards that have been removed prior to operating the unit.
- If you unit is equipped with a power take-off, mounted to the back of the engine, it must be kept properly adjusted. Consult your manual for proper adjustment procedures.
- Inspect all conveyors daily for torn or punctured conveyor belts. Ensure that all troughing and return rollers are operating properly. Replace any rollers that are malfunctioning and repair any holes or tears in the conveyor belts.
